Runeword FAQ

Short answers, sourced like everything else on this site — mechanics detail and per-runeword data live in the runeword table. ✓ corroborated

How do I craft a runeword in Path of Idle?

At the Workshop, on the Socketing page: take a 3-socket common (white) or fine base item and socket the three specific runes named in the runeword skill’s description, in order. The socket shapes on the base must match the runes.

Why does my runeword craft fail on the right item?

Almost always socket shapes. Shapes are rolled randomly on the base item and must match the runes (defensive runes need shield-shaped sockets). Click the runeword in-game to see the exact failure reason. Note the in-game guide can also disagree with the craft screen — Killing Aura is listed for boots but reportedly cannot be made on boots.

Do runeword skills stack with skills I already have?

The granted ACTIVE skill does not stack with the same skill already learned on your class. Passive effects do stack. (Community-reported, not yet double-confirmed.)

What are the 6 empty slots at the top of the Talents menu?

Runeword-exclusive talent slots. Completing a runeword unlocks its 6-talent cluster there.

Where do runes come from?

Rune Pouches (Rare and Legendary tiers), craftable at the Workshop. Runes roll their own affixes; percentage-based rune affixes were nerfed twice in official patches.

Where is the full runeword recipe list?

Nowhere public yet — as of our last update no site has published a single verified rune combination. The in-game Codex and each skill description have them; we are collecting verified recipes and credit every report.
